I am repeatedly reminded of how many opera lovers there are in our listening area. At the Clark Haines luncheon on Thursday, my table mates and I spent a wonderful time talking about classical music and to my delight, all enjoyed opera. They all were appreciative of the fact that Dayton Public Radio airs opera each week. I know this might sound like a commercial but is still true.
Coming up this summer the LA Opera, San Francisco Opera, Dayton Opera and the Met’s National Council Finals Concert. I hope you will join me.
Oh, by the way the Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcast of Tristan begins at 12 noon!

I am pretty sure that Classical 88.1 is the ONLY radio station in the country, if not on the planet, that still has the audacity to run opera program 52 Saturdays a year.
I’m not even that big of an opera fan, and I find that to be one of the most impressive qualities of the unique programming we offer on WDPR and WDPG!
